$100 Room Challenge-Reveal!

It’s time for the $100 Room Challenge Reveal! I am so excited to finally be here! Mr. Muse and I decided to start working on our house a little bit at a time, making a steady climb, rather than in larger spurts. The $100 Room Challenge was the perfect start to our change in process. We decided to makeover the office closet and make it more suitable for our needs (more kitchen storage). Here is the before:

messy closet

We began by taking everything out and painting the closet. A fresh coat of paint is the cheapest, fastest way to improve almost anything, don’t you agree?

Next, Mr. Muse stained the shelves and made new shelf supports. (Find out what we used for shelves here.)

I ordered stackable wire baskets from The Container Store, and because we had unexpected weather conditions (aka “snow day”), they arrived late. But they are beautiful!

Here’s the breakdown of the budget for the $100 Room Challenge project:

  • Shelves (stair treads): 33.00
  • Paint (½ can Behr Whisper White paint/primer in one): 15.50
  • Stain (leftover from another project)       0
  • 1 x 2 board for shelf supports: 5.00
  • Puck lights: 9.00
  • Wall anchors for shelf supports (12 of 50): 5.00
  • Baskets (set of 2): 31.00
  • Total: 98.50

I am so happy with how this turned out! We now have extra storage for our small kitchen which is right off this room. Plus some space for office supplies and those random-things-you-don’t-know-what-to-do-with, such as wrapping supplies. It’s all arranged neatly for now, but you can bet when I figure out what else to put in there, the shelves will be a little more populated. 😉

Now to work on the rest of this space, and turn it into an office/guest room!

What’s your latest DIY project? I’d love to hear about it below! Also, please check out these other $100 Room Challenge Reveals for some other great ideas!
